Dermaplaning
Dermaplaning is a safe procedure where we use a sterile blade to exfoliate the dead skin cells and ridding the skin of fine vellus hair (peach fuzz) leaving a very smooth surface. It has been used in professional facials for years and has recently become a celebrity favourite.
As with any type of exfoliation, the removal of dead skin cells allows home care products to be more effective, reduces the appearance of fine lines, evens skin tone and assists in reducing millia, closed and open comedone (white/blackheads), and minor breakouts associated with congested pores.
Dermaplaning can be an effective exfoliation method for clients that have couperose (tiny blood vessels near the surface of the skin), sensitive skin or allergies that prevent the use of a chemical peel.
Will my hair grow back thicker and darker?
Not at all, this is an old wives tale, the vellus hair will grow back at the same rate and texture as before. It is biologically impossible for hair to grow back thicker from shaving.
